Become a Member
You are required to have the following items to become a member of the Wright Flyers Club:
Register with the FAA
It is required by law that all of our members register with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Registration is $5 and your I.D. number is valid for 3 years. You can register with the FAA on their website at:
https://faadronezone.faa.gov/#/
Civil and criminal penalties do apply if you fly without an FAA I.D. Your FAA ID number must be displayed on your aircraft.
Take a TRUST Test
The law requires that all recreational flyers pass an aeronautical knowledge and safety test and provide proof of passage if asked by law enforcement or FAA personnel. The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) was developed to meet this requirement. Information on taking the TRUST test can be found at: https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_flyers/knowledge_test_updates
Become an AMA Member
You must be a current year member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). Wright Flyers is an AMA Chartered flying location and has liability insurance through the AMA. In accordance to our agreement with Baltimore County, we require our members to be AMA members for liability purposes. This insurance protects you, our members, visitors, and our flying location.
